Annual Chowder and Chili Challenge
Funky Murphy's captures two trophies
Posted November 6, 2015
Despite less than ideal weather, there was another big crowd on hand at the Chowder and Chili Challenge at Marlboro’s twentieth annual Heritage Festival held downtown last month. During the challenge, local restaurants and caterers offered tastes of their chowder and chili while vying for votes from judges and attendees. Trophies are awarded to the winners of both the judges’ vote and the popular vote.
Marlborough’s newest downtown eatery, Funky Murphy’s, made a big splash by capturing both awards in the chili contest.
Shown in picture, Chamber of Commerce Program and Events Coordinator Jackie Smith presents both chili trophies to Dessie McKane, owner of Funky Murphy’s. The new Marlboro restaurant is located at 31 Main Street, the former site of the Lazy Dog. It is McKane’s second location, joining his original restaurant located at 305 Shrewsbury Street in Worcester.
